Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and ready to bring a day filled with love, chocolates, and affection! As with every year, you’re likely busy purchasing a beautiful bouquet of roses or reserving a spot at a romantic restaurant. While the thought certainly does count, your significant other may have something cute and cuddly on their mind: puppies!
Whether they’re looking up puppy pictures on their phones or gazing at every puppy they meet, it’s obvious that your partner has some serious puppy fever. They may not know how to tell you they want a puppy or may want you to figure it out first.
So rather than wonder what your partner may want for Valentine’s Day, pay attention to the following signs and you’ll know!
Does your significant other gush over pictures of Dachshunds? Do they go out of their way to show you pictures of Pugs or Golden Retrievers?
Most of the time, gushing over puppies is perfectly understandable (and even encouraged…at least by us!). That cute button nose, those round eyes, and infectious bark—who wouldn’t be swept up by the charms of a puppy? But if your significant other has made it a habit to search up puppy pictures, especially when you’re around, then something is definitely going on.
Pay close attention the next time you and your significant other are together. You may notice how their eyes brighten up when they come across a photo of their favorite breed. They may spend ages on Instagram, comparing two puppy breeds they absolutely adore. They may even ask for your opinion. And with that, you’ll have an idea of what to get for your partner on the day of love.
If your significant other is always asking to go on puppy playdates at Petland, they likely have a special puppy (or puppies!) on their mind. Our staff and team don’t mind, of course—our puppies love being able to play with new friends!
Through their sociable, energetic nature, our puppies provide moments of pure bliss to everyone they encounter. We enjoy giving aspiring pet owners the opportunity to get to know our puppies on a face-to-face basis.
However, if your loved one has been eyeing one of our pups for a while, it may be a good idea to consider bringing a cuddly new friend into your home this Valentine’s Day.
When you and your loved one are walking through the mall or checking out online shops, your partner may just pass one less-than-subtle hint that says it all: “I just love puppies!”
They may repeatedly mention their puppy fever (and even sigh a few times, just for that extra push) whenever shopping or the topic of Valentine’s Day comes up. Again, not very subtle but at least it steers you in the right direction!
Does your significant always tell you about their “completely hypothetical scenarios” of owning a puppy? If so, there’s a chance your partner is in desperate need of a furry bestie.
Along with showing you puppy pictures on Instagram or talking about their favorite breed, they may go on about how much they would love and care for their fur-baby (expect a good amount of side-glances during these conversations!). They may ask you to join in on their puppy-owning dreams—”just imagine talking our cute little Yorkie out on a walk!” or “we could snuggle up with our Saint Bernard on the couch!”
And who knows? This Valentine’s Day, you may just drop them a special present that’ll make their hypothetical scenario a reality.
Maybe your loved one’s consistent, not-so-subtle behavior hasn’t convinced you yet—but their friend’s hints just might.
It’s not uncommon for a person to recruit their close group of friends to drop some ideas into the giver’s head. In fact, it’s a brilliant tactic that can make you think they’re doing you a huge favor when in reality, your partner was pulling the strings the entire time. Pretty sneaky, huh?
If you start noticing weird little comments about puppies or even full-on conversations about your partner’s favorite breed, you already know what to get for that special someone in your life this Valentine’s Day.
Getting a puppy as a gift is a joyful experience that’ll express how much you care for your significant other. Make sure that you and your loved one are prepared to handle a puppy and the responsibilities that come with it. As long as you and your partner are stable and ready for a lifelong commitment, a puppy will never fail to bring smiles and laughter into your home. We hope you and that special person in your life have a lovely Valentine’s Day!
