Petland Largo is located at 10289 Ulmerton Rd, Largo, FL 33771. The store is open 7 days a week from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. You're welcome to visit any day during those hours to meet our puppies and team. No appointment is necessary for store visits.
We offer a wide variety of breeds, from popular large breeds like Golden Retrievers and German Shepherds to small breeds like Yorkshire Terriers and Dachshunds, as well as designer mixes (e.g. Goldendoodles or Cavapoos). Our Available Puppies page is updated regularly with current listings. If you're looking for a specific breed, you can check our website or call us – chances are we either have them or can help you find your dream puppy.
Our puppies are typically at least 8 weeks old by the time they arrive in the store. We follow guidelines to ensure each puppy stays with its mother and littermates for an appropriate duration and has begun initial vaccinations before coming to Petland. Most puppies in our store are in the 2-4 month old range, meaning they are old enough to leave their mom but still young and ready to bond with their new family.
We source our puppies only from reputable, licensed breeders, not from puppy mills. In fact, all of our puppies come from Top USDA-licensed breeders (with no direct violations) and select hobby breeders who meet our high standards. Petland is dedicated to working with breeders who raise their puppies in safe, humane conditions. We even participate in programs like Canine Care Certified, which sets rigorous standards for breeder care. You can feel confident that your puppy comes from a responsible source.
Many of our puppies are purebred and come with registration papers. Most are eligible to be registered with major canine registries (such as AKC, APR, ACA, or UKC), and you'll be given the paperwork and opportunity to register your new puppy at the time of purchase. A "registered" puppy means its pedigree is documented as purebred. We also provide three-generation pedigree information for most purebred puppies, so you can see your puppy's family tree. Of course, we also have some wonderful hybrid or designer-breed puppies who may not have registry papers, but we will still provide any available lineage info.
Yes – all Petland Largo puppies are microchipped before going home. Microchipping is a permanent form of ID to help reunite you with your pet if they ever get lost. We will assist you in registering your puppy's microchip at the time of purchase (registration is important, as it links the chip to your contact information). Having a registered microchip gives your puppy an excellent chance of being recovered if they wander off. It's a small step that provides huge peace of mind.
Absolutely. We make sure every puppy receives thorough veterinary care. Licensed veterinarians examine our puppies at least twice a week in the store to monitor their health. Each puppy also comes with a Florida Health Certificate signed by a vet, confirming they are up-to-date on all required vaccinations and deworming treatments. So when you take your puppy home, you'll have documentation of its healthy status and medical records. Petland Largo prioritizes puppy health – from routine exams to proper nutrition – to give your pup the best start.
Yes. Every puppy from Petland Largo comes with comprehensive health warranties. We provide at minimum a 14-day warranty that covers any viral or bacterial illnesses (so if your puppy gets sick shortly after purchase, we assist with treatment) and an extended 10-year hereditary/congenital warranty for peace of mind. In other words, if any genetic or congenital issues arise within 10 years, we have you covered. These guarantees show how confident we are in our puppies' health and how committed we are to supporting you and your pet. Our staff will explain the full details of our health warranty at purchase, so you know exactly what's covered.
We understand that bringing home a puppy is a big investment, and yes, we do offer financing options. Petland Largo has a Petland Credit Card program that provides special financing plans (and even reward points on purchases) to make budgeting easier. If you prefer not to use the Petland Credit Card or don't get approved, we can discuss additional financing solutions in-store – we partner with various financing companies to help our customers manage the cost. Our goal is to be flexible so you can focus on finding the right puppy without worrying about one lump-sum payment. Feel free to ask a Pet Counselor about financing and we'll walk you through the simple application process.
Yes – we are devoted to helping you train your new puppy! Petland Largo offers multiple resources to set you and your pup up for success. For starters, our staff will give you an in-store orientation on basic puppy care and training tips (covering the 4 Basic Needs, with a focus on housebreaking, nipping, etc.) when you take your puppy home. We also offer a 6-week Puppy Training Program led by a professional trainer, with weekly classes you can attend with your pup. In addition, you'll receive access to a toll-free training hotline for free lifetime advice from certified trainers, and we have hours of online training videos you can use anytime. Petland even hosts puppy "kindergarten" classes and weekly Q&A sessions with trainers for new puppy parents. In short, you're not alone in the training process – we provide ongoing support and guidance to help your puppy grow into a well-mannered member of the family.
We make socialization a priority. Our puppies are handled and played with every day by our staff and often by store visitors, so they become comfortable with people of all ages. In fact, our puppies are exposed to children, adults, and other puppies regularly to ensure they are friendly and well-adjusted. Petland Largo has play areas where puppies get supervised playtime and exercise, which helps them develop good temperaments. Many customers comment on how happy and sociable our puppies are when they take them home. Early socialization like this means your new puppy will transition more easily into your home and family life.
"Puppy for a Lifetime" is a special lifetime replacement program offered by Petland Florida. It essentially means that as long as you enroll in the program and meet its care guidelines, Petland will provide you with a new puppy in the future if something happens to your current one. In other words, we will provide you a puppy for the rest of your life under the program. Here's how it works: you keep your puppy on specific veterinarian-recommended food and supplements (purchased through Petland) throughout its life. If the unfortunate happens – say your dog passes away unexpectedly – Petland will give you a credit toward a new puppy, equal to the original puppy's price. This program is our way of showing how much we believe in our pets' health, and it ensures you'll always have a loving companion. Our Pet Counselors can explain full details and enrollment if you're interested.
A Petland puppy comes with an extensive care package to give you a great start. Here's what you can expect to go home with:
- Verified Health Records: You receive a Florida Health Certificate from our vet showing your puppy's up-to-date vaccinations and deworming, plus documentation of multiple vet health checks.
- Health Warranties: Every puppy includes our 14-day illness warranty and 10-year hereditary warranty for health issues (your "peace-of-mind" guarantee).
- Microchip & Registration: Your puppy will be microchipped for lifetime identification, and we'll provide the microchip registration info (with AKC Reunite enrollment) so you can register your pet's ID chip.
- Pedigree and Registration Papers: For purebreds, we supply registration papers and a three-generation pedigree (family tree) for your puppy. This shows their bloodline and allows you to officially register your dog's breed status.
- Starter Supplies: We don't send you home empty-handed! Petland provides a starter kit with some essentials – often this includes a supply of the puppy's current food, a bottle of vitamins or supplements (we include a 30-day supply of puppy vitamins and other supplements), and sometimes goodies like a collar/leash or toys and potty pads.
- Training & Care Resources: You'll also get access to our training materials – for example, an obedience training guide/DVD and the contact info for our 1-800 training support line. Plus, you get a lifetime membership to our store community, which comes with perks like discounts on supplies or services (e.g., nail trims) for your pet.
Overall, when you purchase a puppy from Petland Largo, you're getting much more than "just a puppy." We provide health assurances, proper paperwork, initial supplies, and ongoing support to ensure a smooth transition for your new family member.
Yes, absolutely! Petland Largo encourages hands-on interaction. We want you to spend time with any puppy you're considering, to make sure it's the right fit for both of you. Our store has comfortable playrooms where you can meet and play with puppies in a safe, clean environment. In fact, we take a fun, hands-on approach to helping families learn about our puppies and their needs. You're welcome to cuddle, play, and get to know the puppy's personality. Our staff will be nearby to answer questions while you bond with the pup. We believe this interactive experience is important – after all, finding your new best friend should be an enjoyable process!
You are welcome to walk in anytime during our open hours – no appointment needed. We happily accept walk-in visits, and our puppies love the attention from visitors. But generally, feel free to stop by whenever is convenient – our Pet Counselors will be ready to assist you and introduce you to any puppies you'd like to meet.
Yes, our staff are experts at matchmaking! Petland prides itself on matching the right pet with the right owner. When you visit, our friendly Pet Counselors will ask you about your lifestyle, home, and what you're looking for in a dog. We're very knowledgeable about different breeds and their temperaments, energy levels, and care requirements, and we'll use that knowledge to guide you to breeds that suit your family. Whether you're a first-time dog owner or have specific needs, we strive to help you find your perfect puppy. Customers often praise how our staff goes above and beyond to ensure a good match. We want this to be a lifelong happy relationship, so we take the time to get it right!
We do often have hypoallergenic or low-shedding breeds available. If you or a family member has dog allergies, we can suggest breeds known to be more allergy-friendly. Common hypoallergenic breeds include the Maltese, Bichon Frise, Poodle, Schnauzer, Shih Tzu, and certain mixes like Goldendoodles or Maltipoos which inherit low-shedding coats. These breeds tend to produce fewer allergens (because they shed less dander). Just let us know about any allergy concerns, and we'll be happy to show you puppies that could be a great fit. Many allergy sufferers have found their perfect pet through Petland Largo.
